I am Zikaria Philip who was the Chief Editor of fortnightly “Naqib” and one of the fortunate journalists who got the opportunity to attend the 1993 Summer University held in Germany (East and West), Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine.

This study programme was highly fruitful for me because I learnt a lot about these countries and their social, economic and political situations, especially after the fall of communist regimes. I was very much touched by the visits especially to Auschwitz concentration camp where parts of history are kept alive.

It was a new and noble experience in Kiev and Lvov. It was not long time ago the people of Ukraine got the taste of freedom, the joy of religious and political freedom, which gave them a new life. 

It was another joyful experience when all the young journalists were taken to the places where the Berlin Wall divided Germany and its unification. It was a study programme, which gave us a new picture of eastern and central Europe.

It also gave us an extra ordinary opportunity to meet people of different nationalities. To get to know each other as friends and benefit from each other’s ideas and experiences.  This programme sets the stage to know the world and the Church. Thanks to all Organisation's activities throughout the years and the Organisation's team gets full marks for organising various formation programmes and congresses which help bring peace and freedom of expression worldwide.
